Sydney Sutcliffe, LCSW

Sydney is a dedicated clinician who has been employed for five years, but brings over eight years of experience in the field of mental health. She has worked extensively with adolescents, providing trauma-informed care to youth navigating complex challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ODD, and ADHD. Sydney earned both her bachelor’s degree in Psychology (with a minor in Communications) and her master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in mental health and co-occurring disorders from Southern Connecticut State University. She is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression and integrates evidence-based practices to support meaningful, lasting change. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, structure, and evidence-based practices that foster resilience and emotional growth.

In addition to her work, Sydney has experience working professionally within the Department off Corrections, as well as high school and college settings, where she supports a diverse population of students and assists in managing academic stress, identity development, and mental health concerns—empowering them to build strong coping skills and a deeper sense of self, including those with IEPs and 504 plans. She works closely with families to navigate the special education system and advocate for the individualized supports students need to succeed. She is also joined in her practice by her gentle German Shepherd, Blue, who occasionally pops into sessions when hugs or a calming presence are needed.

In her practice, Alexandra employs an integrative and individualized approach to therapy, grounded in evidence-based frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Her trauma-informed lens allows her to meet clients where they are while gently guiding them through the growth and recovery process. She believes in the power of connection, trust, and empowerment, and strives to create a therapeutic space where clients of all ages feel heard, validated, and supported.
